Welcome to The Blues Culture Network
Dear Visitor,
I’m Brother Jacob, a blues artist, historian, and radio host with a deep passion for this music and the vibrant culture surrounding it. I created The Blues Culture Network as a platform to celebrate and amplify the incredible music, stories, and community that define the blues.
So, what is Blues Culture? It’s more than just a genre of music, it’s a way of life. Blues Culture is deeply rooted in the African American experience, born from Negro spirituals and field hollers created by enslaved Black people as expressions of resilience and hope. Over time, these forms evolved into the blues, which I recognize as the root of all American music.
While the blues stands as the foundation, it shares a closely intertwined and mutually influential relationship with gospel and jazz. Together, these genres shaped the evolution of American music, giving rise to soul, rock and roll, hip-hop, and countless other styles.
Today, the blues is a vibrant and evolving art form that brings together a community as diverse as the music itself. From the cotton fields of Mississippi to the international festivals that celebrate its legacy, the blues continues to bridge generations, cultures, and perspectives. The Blues Culture Network celebrates this diversity while honoring the traditions and stories that remain at its heart.

This platform is also about paying homage to the blues legends of the past, those whose voices, stories, and music paved the way for future generations. Through storytelling, news, and community engagement, I aim to help keep their memory alive while supporting today’s artists as they continue to innovate and grow the genre.
Through this platform, it is my goal to honor these traditions by:
-
Providing another platform to promote blues artists, both emerging and established.
-
Highlighting the wonderful things happening within the blues community, from festivals and events to artist collaborations and cultural traditions.
-
Exploring the Blues Diaspora, the connections between blues and other genres, its influence on global music, and the shared roots it has with gospel and jazz.
-
Sharing timely news and updates that matter to blues fans and the people working to preserve and evolve the music.
This isn’t about replacing other platforms but contributing to the collective effort to honor and grow the blues. It’s about creating opportunities for discovery, celebration, and connection for fans new and old.
Whether you’re here to catch up on the latest news, learn about your favorite artists, or simply immerse yourself in the world of blues culture, I’m so glad you’ve joined us. Together, we can celebrate our Blues Heritage, because it's more than just a sound, it's our culture.
Warm regards,
Brother Jacob
